The Faceless Man
There’s a deep resentment I hold –
Against whom? I do not know,
So, I close my eyes –
To see the face of the person,
That I resent the most.
Behold, a person emerges from the dark,
A man, so full of pride,
Nevertheless, he didn’t have a face,
Now who do I resent
Maybe it’s him – The Faceless Man.
The Faceless Man has committed numerous crimes,
He belittles and he hates everyone,
I’ve seen him kill many
From women to the smallest of children.
He doesn’t spare anyone,
I see his grin, although there’s no face,
He seems to enjoy hurting them,
Rather, he relished his act of –
Ravaging women and children.
There’s no remorse left in him,
He continues his work with great pride,
His head is always held high,
No one questions him and they act blind.
Once someone shot him,
The other time, someone stabbed him,
Oh, how he bled and died,
He came back – UNFAZED,
Every single time, like he was immortal.
Every time I saw him,
My blood boiled,
Oh, how I despised this faceless man,
I secretly hoped there was a way to end him.
Oh, that’s when it struck me,
He’s been killed multiple times,
He’s come back twice as strong,
Because the Faceless Man was not one,
He was one among the MANY.
Every time he fell,
Someone put on his face,
Continuing the horrors he left behind,
Whilst I sat here – Bewildered.
The Faceless Man is indeed powerful,
For his power generates from us,
Every time a new face rises,
We shy away,
Inadvertently giving him glory.
We didn’t intend to do something,
But, we didn’t stop him either,
We glorified his crimes as something substantial,
Making him grow in stature.
The Faceless Man feeds from our fears,
He feeds off our resentment,
He feeds off our hatred,
Every time he is killed,
He only comes back stronger.
