Radicalisation

100%

It was rosy dawn,
Just like any other day,
I woke up to relish the sun,
Then I looked at the clock,
I was late to school, I had to run!

On the way, I saw some men with guns,
I didn’t bother & just continued to run,
After a while, I heard a cry,
It was my friend, beaten & left to die.

I rushed back home and told my mum,
She told me to stay away from all this,
But, that was my dear friend, bleeding to death,
Left my home in anger,
Went to a mountain to see the sun set;

There I noticed some boys training,
I looked past and broke down in tears,
A young man came to me and said,
“Is there anything I can do instead?”

I confided in him,
He confided in me,
He offered me a chance at vengeance,
To satisfy my friend’s grieving soul,
And I knew this was my only chance.

The next morning, I skipped school,
And went to meet my new friend,
We sat and listened to his leader,
Who taught us to fight back without fear!

As days passed, I became a part of them,
A family of brotherhood,
All we had was one goal,
To follow the master and his teachings,
To fulfill my purpose and my role.

The day finally arrived,
The day I had trained for,
I was taught to show no remorse,
Just stick to the plan and never reveal the source.

And just like that, I killed them,
One after the other, knowing I did the right thing,
Yet, my mother abandoned me,
The society labeled me as an extremist,
They were blind, and it was my belief they couldn’t see.

The leader was right,
They are not like us,
They don’t know our pain,
They do everybody for their gain.

Now, I have to show them,
Anyone who doesn’t agree, do not belong here,
For I will show them OUR WAY,
Either by convincing them,
Or sending them to their permanent stay.

One day, you will understand,
Why I did, whatever I did!
That day I will be no more,
I’ll just remain a lore!
